The Things We Love

A family friend posted this quote on her facebook site:

“”People are made to be loved and things are made to be used. There is so much confusion in this world because people are being used and things are being loved…”

Jesus had no such confusion. He spent his time here on Earth loving people, and had and cared nothing for possessions.

So how did we get to the situation we have today? How is it that human trafficking is a world wide problem? How is it that over half of the women in America have suffered some form of abuse? How is it that the love we show has declined as our possessions have increased? I am not saying possessions are bad, I have certainly had more than my share. I am saying that they are not to be worshiped, but the One who had none is to be worshiped.

God is love. It is His nature. He made Love supernatural. The more you give away the more you have. He gives us an infinite supply. Its how He designed it and how He intended it. In His design people are never to be used, they are to be loved, with His Love. Our problem is we get out of balance. The pursuit of things takes up so much time, there is little left to share Love. That is how the devil designs things.

“I Love You ” takes 1.5 seconds to say. Even in our busy lives how many times could we share those words today. Try and give away all the love you have and you will end up with more than you started with because God will replenish yours and many of those you share with will return it.

How silly are we humans. The one thing that increases as we give it away, we keep. Amazing that even our selfishness doesn’t help us here. I once heard a pastor say that when we get to Heaven, the one question Jesus will ask each one of us is, “Did you learn to love?”

Today is a new day. I will love more today.
